Latex Care

Putting Latex On

  • DO NOT WEAR ANY KIND OF BODY LOTION/OIL on any part of your body that will be touching the latex; it will cause the rubber to become brittle and tear over time.
  • Pour a quarter-sized amount of pure silicone lube (I recommend Pjur Silicone Lube or beGLOSS Perfect Shine spray) into your palms and rub it onto the parts of your body that will be touching the garment.
  • Patting cornstarch in the inside of the garment and your skin works too if you prefer it over silicone.
  • Do not PULL the material, gently gather, and slide the latex on the way you would a pair of pantyhose.
  • If you notice resistance, try adding a bit more dressing aide.
  • I recommend removing all jewelry when putting on latex to avoid accidental punctures or tears. Be extra cautious of long nails or any other sharp objects.

Shine Latex

  • Pour a quarter-sized amount of the silicone lube/latex conditioner in the palm of your hand or glove.
  • Starting in the back of the garment, wipe from top to bottom (may take several passes to get that mirror shine)
  • Do the same to the front of the garment.
  • Make sure areas that rub together such as under the arm or thighs are well lubricated since the friction can cause the latex to tear if it's dry.

Washing Latex

  • In your sink, tub, or plastic bucket, mix ¾ hot water with ¼ cold water.
  • Add a small amount of everyday dish soap, without dyes or perfumes (we use the green plain Palmolive)
  • Drop your garment into the soapy water and swish it around with your hands.
  • Swish the latex in the soap water until all polish is off the garment.
  • Once the garment is clean, remove it from the container and rinse it with warm water to remove all soapy residues.
  • Note: Latex appearing lighter or darker in some areas after being soaked in water is expected. This occurs naturally and will return to the original color once the garment has dried and adjusted to room temperature.
  • If you plan on wearing the garment out, then in a separate tub or bucket add a cap full of Vivishine for every latex piece you wash. Vivishine is an excellent conditioner that will ensure your latex lasts longer.
  • If you plan on washing your latex for storage continue with the “Storing Latex” instructions.

Storing Latex

  • Latex holds its integrity best when evenly coated in cornstarch or baby powder during storage.
  • Hang the garment on a plastic hanger and store it in a cool, dark place.
  • You can also fold the garment in tissue paper and keep it in a drawer, fold lines may develop from being folded for a long period. You can remove the lines/wrinkles by following the wash process before wearing.
  • Do not allow different colored latex to be stored or hung together. Darker latex may stain lighter latex.
